Organization Progression
- The Scarlet Circle
- The Fireflies
- Didn't take them long to figure out more about Nathaniel Fawkesmoore's tower project.
- Seems to be some sort of pet project that he's apparently been playing close to the chest, only interacting with a select few, and letting even fewer in on what he's actually doing, which has led to some of his cashflow woes - the rest being due to the sheer scale of his plan.
- He wants to build an inland port, presumably to attract merchants directly to Kaledorei
- (this is going to piss Bremoor off, since much of their profit comes from port fees, and from the merchants bound for Kaledorei that basically have to travel through this port)
- (airships aren't common on this continent yet, but they see more use overseas, and besides the The Silver Spire, there aren't any airports nearby)
- (he's been in competition with the ruling nobility in Bremoor's area for some time, and stealing business and tourism from them is his main goal)
- at the expense of both the townspeople in Bremoor and Kaledorei
- Tarawn's trade advisor encourages this sort of behavior - since the country is still rapidly expanding, competition to bring wealth and notoriety to the nation can only be a good thing
Session Points
- Cooling down after an unexpected dragon fight, Jade letting them in on some of the political bullshittery she's been escaping from
- Players to ID the [Moonstone] hopefully
- Fireflies reporting back to the PCs after looking into the Noble
- ???
Permire
- Something big is going to go down here, but not yet
- Just hint at it at some point when they're in Dave
- The PCs can feel something like a pressure wave coming from the east
- The clouds don't seem to be affected, nor do any real physical effects happen
- Unlike an earthquake, its a single pulse - no aftershocks, no shaking, just a thud
Dave
Cooling down from the unexpected dragon fight.
Jade talking about how it feels good to get away from Judas and his lectures about how a lady should act
- like he knows anything about ladies!
- I think he's an eunuch?
The people in Cenorias talk about the real world and how it could be made better, but its not like any of them have ever been outside the city - how do they expect to improve a place they've only seen out their windows?
Dave can help them sleep for the night, and can help the PCs figure out his whole deal
- invisible fairies (Artyom can see them!)
- a note in many different languages, most of them incomprehensible to the players, some of them not understood anymore
- "Do you require more accommodation? 💧"
The trees part and the party finds themselves miles away from their starting point - near the The Sapphire Torch hideout, at the edge of the forest
Fireflies Report
- When they return home, Krea is waiting for them outside Strix's barn, leaning up against one of the support beams near the door and twirling a glowing, yellow crystal between her thumb and forefinger
- She doesn't notice them approaching unless they make a lot of noise
- Reports the above information from [Firefly Progression]
- Levers herself off the support beam and walks back toward town, pausing a moment to turn around and smile & wave at Strix Nebulosa
The Moonstone
Assuming they're going to bring it to the same cleric they've been bringing items to for [Identify]
- The cleric has a +9 [Spellcraft], and the item has an Identify DC of 15+CL (21) = [DC 36]
- [Identify] grants a +10, so they roll 1d20+19 vs 36 (need a [17] to pass)
- Even if they pass, the item is an artifact and cannot be identified using [Identify]
- The item can be identified by [Detect Magic], but it requires you to beat the full [DC 36] check with just your [Spellcraft] bonus
- would need a natural 20 and +16 bonus
The Noble
Is meeting again with the man and woman from earlier, discussing the same steel trade
- He seems to have gotten his stone elsewhere
- He's more forceful this time, or the pair is more reserved - either way he appears to be operating with the upper hand this time
- Ends up making the trade, and calls someone in to pop the cork on a bottle of champagne
The Sapphire Torch
Astrid is still chilling in the back, drinking, since the party didn't interact with her last time.
Astrid is in the back if the party comes by, drinking out of a flask
- When she notices them, she slurs her greeting, then quietly casts [Lesser Restoration] and goes it again
- She's not really involved in those sorts of meetings, she's "just" the medic, really
Freyja is quick to twist the recent events in her favor - the nobility is just maximizing their profit at the expense of everyone and everything that they could be helping
- Her learning that its encouraged by the Tarawn gov't just confirms it for her, this is an issue stemming from the top, and needs to be fixed from the top down.
- She's not.. quite sure how to achieve this though
- It would be great if everyone just treated each other decently and didn't abuse their power
- But decency starts to fall apart when you add enough people
- What realistic options are there, even?
- ("fine, I'll just do it myself")
Game plan is some B&E to steal some documents from Nathaniel
Warned the ST about Lucien Vanko and the fact that they got their asses kicked
- ST told them to watch their backs
