Session Points

Ambush

The archer quickly realizes he's in over his head. They're set up a decent distance away, but once Nils takes off at them, they take cover, Strix starts shooting back and making contact, or something like [Wind Wall] is cast, they retreat to cover and either [Stealth] to hide somewhere, or more realistically they get back to their horse and are out of there.

The Road Back

The sun has just risen above the mountain range, and looking out over the ridge, you can see for miles in almost every direction. To the south, you can make out Kaledorei, situated in the middle of a rolling plain. Following the road northwest, the main tower of The Silver Spire in Cenorias is just visible in the distance, glittering in the sunlight.

Messaging tower

This one is likely abandoned, and built similarly to a lighthouse, tall with a living area on the lower floor, and an area to receive messages on the upper floor.

Exterior

The circular tower stands tall and proud, its stone exterior weathered by time and the elements, with snow caking areas where bricks have been eroded away

The door is difficult to open, and requires a decent amount of force to break the ice away from it

Lower Floor

The floor of the tower is roughly 30ft in diameter, and is unlit. As soon as you cross the threshold, several candles around the room and the fireplace instantly light. Inside the room is a simple living space - a sitting chair and table with books set on it, a small fireplace, several bookshelves along the wall, and some cooking equipment, and stairs up to the next level, all with a light layer of dust.
Soon after walking in, you're hit with the a foul, musty smell of fire and smoke that hangs in the air of the room.

Razarac, the Weed-o-mancer was here before going to Tucker Mine. There are two books from the bookshelf pulled off and set on the table:

  • "Forging the Flame: The Art and Science of Sword Making"
  • "Scales and Shadows: An Investigation into Dragon and Kobold Culture"
Upper Floor

This circular room has slatted windows that wrap around the room that provide a mostly unobstructed view of the surroundings. The layer of dust is thicker here - its likely that this part of the tower hasn't been used for a long time.

Downtime

Needs to be at least 5 days for Strix's retraining, probably at least a week.

Strix is looking for someone to retrain a rogue talent ([Assault Leader] => [Offensive Defense])

How comfortable is she with seeking out a rogue that might have the talent? The Thieves Guild would definitely have a person or two that would be willing to train you if that's the route you want to take.

What's Nilkas doing? Says he's learning the lute and assisting people that come into the tavern
>Nils is given some more everyday tasks - bussing tables, some cooking, taking orders from customers, really just helping Therlin out. The days aren't busy, but Nils gets to talk to his fair share of merchants, travelers, and adventurers.

Have him roll 3 [Diplomacy] checks, total the results, double that, then divide by 10. He gets that much GP.
He also receives some information, overhearing it from patrons that stop in and perhaps don't pause their conversations when the hulking man passes by.

Two guards, one obviously-drunk walk in supporting each other and take a seat at a table, restarting their hushed conversation.

Obviously, Nils can choose to ignore this if he wants, but if he does get close:

  1. "Dunno who he thinks he is, cutting our wages like that. T'fuck's he gonna do wit'he extra dough, anyway?"
  2. "Well, he is in charge. But I don't know what he's got planned. Hope its not just slapping an extra wing onto that-- Excuse me, do you mind?"

Tuner Maintenance

As they return to town, "dignitaries" from Thynnon have come to perform maintenance on Kaledorei's Tuner.

Several town guards stand in the city center, watching a pair of elves in grey robes hoist the heavy block of crystalline stone into the back of a wagon, and speaking in murmured tones. The elves go about their business, not paying any mind to the guards or the various townsfolk that stare as they walk by. A new Tuner sits where the old one sat, appearing to glitter as it softly pulses with magical energy.

The two elves are [Valtorin] and [Aelarathiel] :

  • [Valtorin] is an older, balding elf and has sharp features and dull green eyes. He is wearing a brown apron and tool belt over his robes.
    • He is more brusque and tired looking, but has been working with the Tuners for years, practically since they were invented.
    • If asked, he remembers the magical natural disaster caused by Avo Adrallmion 140 years ago, and that Thynnon quickly raced to come up with a way to mitigate the effects of the Gate.
  • [Aelarathiel] is younger, with brighter, blue eyes. Her robe appears to be more intricately embroidered with golden thread.
    • She is kinder, and more likely to talk to the players if approached. She's not as experienced, and will sometimes defer to [Valtorin] if they players ask any technical questions. She speaks with a smoother, more connected tone.

When all done, [Valtorin] produces a small, glowing bead, and speaks into it.

"Val heer. On our way back."

The Scarlet Circle

What are they doing during downtime? They're clearly back in town for something, and probably more than just revenge. They're definitely going to want to know what Nathaniel Fawkesmoore has done about Kosj-Sjerit-Valignat-Vorel in the meantime, and are probably going to be interested in The Pruushnak Clan being wiped out.
