Active Organizations

  • Obscuro
  • Sapphire Torch
  • Pruushnak Clan

Session Points

  • Meet up with the Torch
    • Turns out they also let an orc go, and this all means that any future pushes are going to be harder, that they'll be seen coming
    • What did the Torch gain from the camp? Or if they didn't gain anything, what do they hope to gain from this?
  • Its Obscuro Time

Off in the distance, the party can see two nearby camps. One of them is further east, the other is further south (and is the one that the Sapphire Torch went to).

  • They can make out the few members of the Torch that came with making their way north toward the party's camp.
After the events of last session, they make the walk to the camp the party is at.
  • They report that they let an orc slip through, regrettably, meaning any additional pushes are going to be made a little more difficult.
  • With their enhanced numbers, they should probably be able to push forward, but may need to be smart about it. Freyja has experience moving on fortified positions, and Astrid can patch any wounds and offer support.

On their way to the next camp (or heading back to town, who knows?), the party notices it start to snow.

  • It starts off light, but builds and builds over the next few minutes until its difficult to see straight
  • The Torch members with them (Freyja, Calder, and Astrid) don't notice the snow, even if the PCs bring it up
  • Once the snow has built up, it begins to fall slower, and the PCs hear a voice:
    • "Greetings, Mortals! I am Obscuro, god of wishes, chaos, and mischief. And you, my dear friends, are just in time for a game.."
    • (at some point) Describe how the PCs are shunted to... somewhere. Wisps of purple magic flit from place to place, and the surrounding landscape shifts as you attempt to focus on it. One moment it's a dark and twisted forest, another its a bright and colorful meadow, and just as quickly, it transforms into the barren expanse of space.
    • "I have been watching you carefully of late, mortals, and have decided to bestow upon you gifts... Provided you can endure my challenges three."
  • Challenge 1: Weaknesses
    • "While you have proven powerful in combat so far, how do you fare against that which you are weak? How cunning can you be when the dynamic shifts?"
    • Spawn two Large Aether Elementals (CR 5)
      • Keep in mind they're permanently invisible, but halved (+20 while still, +10 while moving)
        • Stealth +24 while moving, +34 while still
      • As elementals, they are immune to sneak attack, and also have blindsense 60ft (so they ignore displacement and the like)
      • DR 5/-
      • 60ft movespeed
      • 2 slams @ +10 (1d8+3)
      • RANGED telekinetic throw @ +14 (4d6+6) -- Fort. to avoid being thrown (DC 16)
  • Challenge 2: Thoughts
    • "The tall one, with the tattoos.. I sense something about you. Something in your distant past, a foe of unconscionable horror... Enjoy reliving it."
    • Spawn 1 Chuul (CR 7)
      • 2 claws @ +14 (2d6+7 plus grab)
        • Can transfer grappled creature to its mouth as a move action
        • DC 19 Fortitude or be paralyzed for 6 rounds
        • Also take 1d8+7 from the mouth
      • +19 to grapple
  • Challenge 3: Carol
    • "You've kept me interested so far... I have just one more request for you, mortals. As it is the season of holiday cheer, I need to be serenaded, caroled to, perhaps. Lets see what you come up with?"
